  5. Why did I make this? Well I came across some source by ISO,
  6. and just felt like programming a nice interface with it.
  7.

  9. And now for some specs:
  10. - windows 95/98/NT only
  11. - multithreaded
  12. - layer 1,2 : mono, stereo, joint stereo
  13.               audio mpg I  (32, 44.1,  48 kHz)
  14.               audio mpg II (16, 22.05, 24 kHz)
  15. - layer 3   : mono, stereo
  16.               audio mpg I  (32, 44.1,  48 kHz)
  17. - wide range of bitrates
  18. - miscellanious flags
  19. - sources: 16 bit raw pcm
  20.            16 or 8 bit wav pcm
  21.            scsi cdrom source
  22. - multifile or track select (let your computer do the work at night)
  23. - pretty slow 
  24. - progress indicator
  25. - and more... :)

  27. How to get started:
  28. Very easy. The left pane is the source or input-file.
  29. 1. Locate your 'wanna-be mpg' file
  30. 2. Select the frequency/samplingrate of the source
  31. 3. Select the layer (1, 2 or 3).
  32. 4. Select a desired bitrate.
  33.    Note: this is the total bitrate! This means that 128kbps
  34.          for a stereo source is the same quality as 64kbps
  35.          for a mono source.
  36. 5. On the right you can select your destination directory, where
  37.    you want your mpeg-file. The file extension will be changed
  38.    depending on the layer chosen (eg. .mpg .mp2 .mp3)
  39. 6. Finally click on 'Encode'. Pressing it again will abort the
  40.    proces and NO resume is possible. (Something for later).
  41. 7. To encode audio CDs, you'll have to have a SCSI-CDROM drive
  42.    or an IDE with advanced Ultra-IDE drivers under win95.
